Citation: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Isaac Neitzeit (ASN: 1699169), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, A.E.F., near Bois-de-la Naza, France, 5 October 1918. In the face of heavy machine-gun and grenade fire he went forward, with three other soldiers, and brought back five seriously wounded men to a point where they could get first-aid treatment. He showed bravery and coolness in effecting the rescue, in which he was himself wounded.
