Citation: The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Louis Zuckerman, Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near St. Juvin, France, October 15, 1918. In order to enable his platoon to locate an enemy machine-gun nest, Private Zuckerman courageously volunteered and went out into an open field to draw the enemy fire. In the performance of this self-sacrificing mission, he was killed.
