Military Honor(s):

Distinguished Service Cross: Posthumousy awarded

Citation: The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to David H. Cohn, First Lieutenant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Spitaals- Bosschen, Belgium, October 31, 1918. When his company met with determined resistance from enemy machine guns and snipers, Lieutenant Cohn, being the only officer remaining with his company, undertook a dangerous reconnaissance himself rather than assign the mission to others, and while so engaged was mortally wounded.
