Citation: The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Ralph Eberlin, First Lieutenant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Mezy, France, July 15, 1918. Although severely wounded during the first attack of the Germans on the railroad line near Mezy, Lieutenant Eberlin remained in command of his platoon and held an exposed flank against repeated attacks of the enemy.
