Distinguished Service Cross: Posthumousy awarded

Citation: The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Hirche J. Feinberg, Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Cunel, France, October 6, 1918. After all the officers had noncommissioned officers of the company to which he was attached had become casualties, with the exception of the company commander, Private Feinberg voluntarily assisted in reorganizing the company and holding the men together, continually going up and down along the line under the severe enemy fire until he was killed.

Silver Star Medal

Citation: By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Hirche J. Feinberg (ASN: 2354893), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Feinberg distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Roncheres, France, 28 July 1918, in caring for the wounded during the entire night under heavy shell fire.
