Citation: The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Nathan Lieberman, Corporal, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action at Chipilly Ridge, France, August 9, 1918. He displayed unusual gallantry in rushing a machine-gun nest whose fire was checking the advance. With the assistance of men in his squad he put the machine gun out of action and took four prisoners.
